A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Hon. Akinjide Kazeem Akinola, has facilitated the installation of 50 solar-powered streetlights in his Ancestral Village, Olode Adetoun Village, in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of the state.
The intervention, facilitated through the AKA Foundation, is part of the ongoing “Light Up Ona-Ara” initiative under which over 350 solar-powered streetlights are being installed across communities in Ona-Ara Local Government Area.
Speaking during an inspection visit to the community by volunteers of the AKA Foundation, Akinola said the project was borne out of his commitment to improving the living conditions of the people and enhancing security within communities.
He noted that Olode Adetoun, being his ancestral home, occupies a special place in his heart, adding that the installation of the solar-powered streetlights would further improve security, support socio-economic activities, and enhance the overall well-being of residents.
Akinola assured his people that the intervention would not be limited to the solar streetlights project alone, pledging to facilitate more relevant developmental initiatives across the political ward in line with his vision for sustainable grassroots development and within the limits of his personal resources and capacity.
According to him, “Grassroots development remains central to my vision. Our communities deserve quality infrastructure and interventions that can positively impact their lives. We will continue to do our best to complement government’s efforts and bring development closer to the people.”
Community leaders who spoke during the inspection exercise commended the APC stalwart for the intervention, describing it as another demonstration of his commitment to the development of his ancestral village.
They noted that the solar project would significantly improve security, stimulate economic activities, and promote social interaction, particularly during the night.
The residents further recalled that Akinola had, over the years, facilitated several interventions in the community and expressed optimism that the latest project would further strengthen development efforts in the area.
