… AKA Foundation Egbeda’s Solar-Powered Streetlights Distribution and Installation Process Ongoing
The AKA Foundation has successfully completed the installation of over 350 solar-powered streetlights across 57 communities, including Olode Adetohun, the ancestral village of its founder, Hon. Akinjide Kazeem Akinola (AKA), in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The landmark intervention marks the successful completion of the first phase of the Foundation’s ambitious “Light Up Ona-Ara” initiative, which has significantly improved security, boosted night-time commercial activities and enhanced the quality of life in benefiting communities.
The project, championed by the APC chieftain and philanthropist, has been widely commended by natives of the local government as one of the largest privately funded solar streetlight initiatives undertaken in the area.
With the Ona-Ara phase now completed, the Foundation has commenced the second phase of the intervention with the distribution and installation of solar-powered streetlights across communities in Egbeda Local Government Area, extending the impact of the programme to more residents within the federal constituency.
In another major development, members of the AKA Volunteer Team on Tuesday carried out an inspection of the ongoing construction of the AKA Foundation Office in Ona-Ara, a project now approaching completion.
Strategically located in the heart of Ona-Ara Local Government, the constituency office will serve as the operational headquarters for the Foundation’s humanitarian interventions, community development programmes, educational support initiatives, youth empowerment schemes and other constituency-focused activities.
Beyond its physical structure, the constituency office represents a landmark legacy project and is widely regarded as one of the most significant privately driven constituency development initiatives in the political history of the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.
The Foundation is expected to officially commission the facility in a ceremony that will attract distinguished personalities from across Nigeria, further highlighting its growing role in grassroots development and community service.
The completion of the 350 solar-powered streetlights project in Ona-Ara, alongside the imminent completion of the constituency office, further demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to community and sustainable development and its resolve to continue delivering impactful projects that improve the lives of people across the Egbeda, Ona-Ara and other local governments in Oyo State.
