Hon. Akinola Kazeem, Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency and founder of Akinjide Kazeem Akinola Foundation, has commenced the distribution and installation of over 350 solar-powered streetlights across communities in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State under his “Light Up Ona-Ara” initiative.
The project, which was recently announced as part of his grassroots development agenda, officially commenced today with the deployment of materials and installation teams to selected beneficiary communities. The initiative is aimed at improving security, enhancing visibility at night, and supporting socio-economic activities within the benefiting areas.
Speaking on the commencement of the project, Akinola reiterated his commitment to community development and service to the people, noting that leadership extends beyond electoral contests. He stated that the installation exercise would be carried out in phases to ensure wider coverage across communities in Ona-Ara Local Government.
Residents and community leaders in some of the beneficiary areas contacted have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would contribute to improved safety and economic activities. Akinola assured that additional communities would benefit as the project progresses, while plans are already underway to extend the initiative to parts of Egbeda Local Government Area in the next phase.
