The Registrar praised the vision behind the establishment of the institute.

He expressed his appreciation to the Institute and the Council members for the honour.

Mr Saliu expressed gratitude to God for having been moulded by great men in his journey of life and to have schooled in primary and secondary schools where teachers leaned their shoulders for students to ride on and in a higher institution like the University of Ibadan.

He bemoaned the falling standard of education, saying academic freedom has been changed to mean laziness rather than challenging existing knowledge.

Mr Saliu, however, expressed great pleasure to be in a place like the University of Ibadan where the culture and tradition of academic excellence is still being upheld both in admission and in employment policies.
