Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North Federal Constituency and Oyo State, Dr. Olamide Junaid, has mourned the passing of the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi, who died at the age of 76.
Dr. Olamide described his death as a great loss to Ibadanland, the Yoruba race, and Nigeria at large, noting that the late Oloye was a repository of Ibadan, Yoruba and Nigerian history whose wealth of knowledge would be greatly missed.
In her condolence message, she said, “Oloye Lekan Alabi lived a fulfilled life. He was a complete statesman who was always committed to the development of Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. He will be sorely missed.”
She added that his passing had created a great vacuum in the areas of history, culture and public service, considering his immense contributions to the preservation and promotion of Ibadan’s rich heritage.
“I want to condole with his immediate family, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Sen.) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, ARUSA I, the entire Olubadan-in-Council, sons and daughters of Ibadanland, as well as his friends and associates, over the passing of the highly revered and respected Oloye Lekan Alabi,” she concluded.
