IBADAN NORTH: Aderonmu Sahid Withdraws from Reps Race, Reaffirms Loyalty to APC

Ibadan North – Hon. Aderonmu Sahid Adeshina, popularly known as “Symbol,” has stepped aside from the race for the Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, citing the need to protect party unity and strengthen collective political interests.

In a statement issued by his Media Office on Friday, Hon. Sahid said the decision followed extensive consultations with respected leaders and key stakeholders within the party.

According to the statement, the move was taken out of “deep respect for party unity, strategic alignment, and the collective interest of our shared political vision.”

The statement emphasized that the decision was not due to fear, incapacity, or lack of readiness to contest, but rather a demonstration of political maturity, discipline, and commitment to the larger interest of the party.

“Hon. Aderonmu Sahid Adeshina (Symbol) remains fully capable, prepared, and committed to serving the people.

“However, he firmly believes that true leadership is defined by the ability to prioritize the greater good above personal ambition, especially at critical moments that demand unity and cohesion,” the statement read.

The Media Office further noted that throughout his political engagement, Symbol inspired many through purposeful consultations, a clear development vision, and commitment to the progress of Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

It added that his contributions would continue to shape the political future of the constituency despite his withdrawal from the race.

The statement also reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and pledged full support for whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate for the election.

“This is a moment for solidarity, strengthened resolve, and a united push towards victory,” the statement added.

While describing the development as a strategic shift in the immediate political process, the statement maintained that it does not signal the end of Symbol’s political journey, describing him as “a strong voice, a respected leader, and a dependable pillar whose influence will continue to guide and inspire.”

The Media Office called on supporters, stakeholders, and well-wishers to remain calm, united, and focused, stressing that the collective vision for the constituency remains greater than individual ambition.

“The journey continues stronger, wiser, and more united,” the statement concluded.
