The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially scheduled the bye-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency to hold on August 16, 2025, setting the stage for a keen contest between both youthful and veteran political actors.
The seat became vacant following the demise of Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban.
INEC’s final list of candidates reveals a diverse slate:

Hon. Wale Hasstrup Olatunji, popularly known as Wale Murphy, will contest under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be represented by Hon. Oyekunle Folajimi Sunday, also known as Don.
The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) fields 78-year-old Alhaji Hammed Badmus, highlighting a generational contrast among the contenders.
