Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State has continued to gain momentum as a chieftain of the party, Honourable Ifeoluwa Oyedeji, welcomed former council chairman, Engr. (Hon.) Nurudeen Akanni, into the progressive fold.
Engr. Akanni, a prominent political figure in the local government, recently dumped the Allied People’s Movement (APM) to join the APC along with his supporters. Reacting to the development, Hon. Oyedeji expressed delight over Akanni’s decision to align with the APC, describing the move as a major boost to the party’s strength, unity, and preparation for 2027 electoral victories in Ona-Ara, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

“Engr. Nurudeen Akanni is a seasoned politician and a administrator whose track record speaks volumes. His decision to defect from the APM to our great party, the APC, demonstrates his conviction in the progressive vision we represent.
“On behalf of all members and leaders of Ona-Ara APC, i welcome him warmly into our fold and look forward to working together to deliver all APC candidates in the coming 2027 general election and true dividends of democracy to the good people of Ona-Ara,” Ifeoluwa expressed.

Oyedeji further noted that the influx of grassroots leaders and political heavyweights into the APC underscores the growing trust in the party’s leadership and structure across the council area.
He urged all party faithful to embrace the new members and work harmoniously to build a more formidable political structure ahead of the 2027 polls.
