The Ibadan Distinguished Royal Club (IDRC) ushered in a new era of leadership on Saturday February 15, 2025, with a grand Inauguration and Swearing-in Ceremony at Ibadan House, Oke Are̩mọ, Ibadan. The event, attended by revered traditional figures and notable personalities across Ibadanland, reinforced the club’s commitment to cultural preservation and development.

In a ceremony filled with prayers and celebration, Mogaji Gbolagade Moshood Akere was officially installed as President, while Professor Lateef Sanni assumed the role of Secretary.

Mogaji Alemuloke was entrusted with the office of Treasurer, and Mogaji Ejilola Abiodun took the oath as the club’s Public Relations Officer.

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mogaji Saheed Olaniyan, described the occasion as a defining moment for the club, emphasizing the enthusiasm of members in shaping a progressive future.

He encouraged an open-door policy for ideas that would drive collective growth and strengthen the club’s impact.

Delivering his inaugural address, President Mogaji Gbolagade Moshood Akere reflected on the club’s foundation and its core mission—to uphold the rich traditions of Ibadanland while fostering the development of individual family compounds and the city at large.

He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to working hand in hand with key stakeholders to ensure sustainable progress.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including representatives of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, respected chiefs, royal fathers, the President of the Ibadan Mogajis Association, and distinguished leaders in Ibadan’s socio-cultural and political landscape. Their presence underscored the significance of the IDRC’s vision in preserving Ibadan’s legacy for generations to come.

With this new leadership in place, the IDRC is poised to take bold steps in promoting unity, culture, and development within Ibadanland.
