Akinola Kazeem, an illustrious son of Ibadanland and an Abuja-based businessman, has congratulated the lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Hon. Akin Alabi, on his elevation in the line of the Olubadan of Ibadanland from Ajia to Aare-Onibon of Ibadanland.
Akinola Kazeem, who joined friends, families, and eminent Nigerians to celebrate another journey of service to Ibadanland by Oloye Akin Alabi as Aare-Onibon in the Ibadan chieftaincy system, noted that the title simply means ‘Commander of the Shooting Corps of Ibadanland‘ and has responsibilities dating back to the warring era, when leaders of combatant shooters played significant military leadership roles in training warriors on how to handle and shoot guns and in the defence of Ibadan.
According to Akinola, one of the proud sons of Ibadanland from Olode Adetohun Village in Ona-Ara Local Government, the new role expects the new Aare-Onibon, Oloye Akin Alabi, to continue building the intellectual fortress in defence of the most respected stool of the Olubadan and Ibadanland in general.
“We are no longer in the warring era that created the office in history, but building an army of intellectual young sons and daughters of Ibadanland should replace the gun-handling and shooting parts of the Aare-Onibon responsibilities. Ibadan is unique and blessed with millions of young minds making Ibadan proud.”

“While I wish the new Aare-Onibon of Ibadanland, Oloye Akin Alabi, success in his new role, I am also praying for the long reign of our highly revered Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Sen.) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, ARUSA I, and may all those in the line of the Ibadan Chieftaincy live to eat the fruits of their service to Ibadanland, ‘gbogbo wọn máa ka’jó Ibadan.’”
