A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of the AKA Foundation, Hon. Akinjide Kazeem Akinola, has paid tribute to the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, six years after his demise, describing him as a political icon whose legacy continues to shape governance and politics in the state.

Akinola, in a remembrance statement made available through his Media Assistant, Akintunde Yusuf, said the late governor, who combined class with modern governance during his administration, left indelible footprints on the political landscape of Oyo State.

According to him, Senator Ajimobi remains a source of inspiration to many sons and daughters of Oyo State, noting that his style of leadership and contributions to governance continue to resonate across the state.

“For his name to continue to resonate within the political and governance space in Oyo State is a reflection of how impactful and influential he was during his lifetime. It is not an exaggeration to say that his leadership acumen is greatly missed within the progressive family in Oyo State,” Akinola said.

“Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi was one of the reasons politics became attractive to many young actors and players in present-day Oyo State because of the class and vigour he brought into governance and the political process in the state,” he added.

Akinola prayed for the continued repose of the soul of the former governor, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Aljanah Firdaus.

He also prayed for the immediate and political families of the late governor to remain steadfast in upholding his enduring legacy. He particularly prayed for the former First Lady of Oyo State, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, Nigerian Ambassador to Austria, asking Allah to continue to strengthen and uphold her.
