Stakeholders in the Atisbo/Saki-East/Saki-West (Old Ifedapo) Federal Constituency have intensified calls for the zoning of the House of Representatives seat to Atisbo Local Government ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing the need for equity, fairness, and balanced representation.
The call, championed by groups including the Ifedapo Unity Forum and the ATISBO LOKAN Canvassers Team, highlights what they described as a long-standing imbalance in the constituency’s political arrangement since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999.
According to the stakeholders, while Saki-East and Saki-West local governments have each produced representatives three times, Atisbo has only occupied the position once between 1999 and 2003.
They argued that with the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Tajudeen Abisodun Wẹ́rẹ́, set to complete his third term by 2027, any attempt to extend representation outside the established rotation principle would further marginalise Atisbo.
The groups stressed that the demand for Atisbo to produce the next representative is rooted not only in historical precedent but also in the broader principles of justice, fairness, and inclusiveness.

They also expressed dissatisfaction with the current representation, alleging underperformance in critical areas such as infrastructure development, water supply, constituency projects, and legislative advocacy. Concerns were also raised over what they described as divisive rhetoric within party ranks.
In their appeal, the stakeholders urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels to consider zoning the party’s ticket to Atisbo in the interest of unity and political stability within the constituency.
They further noted that such a decision would align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which emphasizes equity, justice, and national cohesion.
The groups warned that disregarding Atisbo’s claim could undermine trust and cohesion within the constituency, while honoring the zoning principle would foster fairness and strengthen democratic participation.
They concluded that the 2027 election presents a defining moment to correct historical imbalances and promote inclusive representation in Ifedapo Federal Constituency.
