A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of the Gbenga Obilade Foundation, Amb. (Dr.) Gbenga Clement Obilade, has urged Nigerians to view President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid as a national responsibility crucial to the country’s future.
Obilade made the call during a press conference held on Wednesday in Ibadan, where he highlighted what he described as the outstanding performance of President Tinubu and the need to renew his mandate through 2031.
Speaking on the achievements of the administration, the Egbeda/Ona-Ara political figure said: “My people, as we reflect on empowerment, we cannot ignore the giant strides of a visionary leader who has consistently broken barriers and built bridges — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His leadership has transformed the South-West and laid a strong foundation for Nigeria’s Renewed Hope. From infrastructure to education, from empowerment to economic reforms, his policies have touched lives and communities across the region.”
Obilade listed several key initiatives of the administration, noting: “To mention just a few of President Tinubu’s outstanding projects and reforms: the growth of non-oil exports and a fast-rising GDP; the creation of five regional development commissions (SWDC, NCDC, SEDC, NWDC, and NEDC); the rehabilitation of 1,200 primary health centres; and the construction of six oncology centres.
“He also commissioned the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road (Phase 1); dualised the Lagos–Shagamu Road; reconstructed the Oyo–Ogbomosho–Ilorin Road; established the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development; recapitalised the Bank of Agriculture with N1.5 trillion; rehabilitated the Third Mainland and Eko Bridges; established the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, Oyo State; introduced tuition-free education in Federal Technical Colleges; launched the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for indigent students; and empowered 1,000 persons in each of the 8,809 wards under the Renewed Hope Project.”

“These are not just projects; they are symbols of visionary leadership. They are bridges of progress, and they remind us why one good turn deserves another,” he added.
Reiterating the need for continuity, Obilade said: “The reward for good work is more work. President Tinubu’s journey is not complete. His vision for the South-West and Nigeria must continue. My brothers and sisters, let us rally around our very own son of the soil. Let us stand firm and united in support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
“This is not just about politics; it is about continuity, stability, and transformation. His leadership has already set us on the path of progress — let us not stop halfway. Together, let us give him the mandate to finish the work he has started.”
Supporting Obilade’s position, the APC state youth leader, Hon. Aremu John, and the Senatorial Women Leader, Mrs. Fatimoh Hassan, jointly noted that President Tinubu has demonstrated a strong commitment to investing in the Nigerian youth, evident in the appointment of young persons across various levels of government.
The press conference was attended by party leaders from state, senatorial, and local government chapters, as well as members of the public who declared support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
