In a significant show of party unity, six aspirants under the platform of the United Aspirants Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North Federal Constituency have unanimously adopted Hon. Khalil Mustapha Repete as their consensus candidate for the forthcoming House of Representatives bye-election as against Hon. Wale Murphy who visited the party office with a certificate of return as party candidate from Abuja.
The resolution was reached at a meeting held on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, at the APC Party Office in Oke Ado, Ibadan. The aspirants, citing internal party tensions, said they conducted an internal election among themselves to determine a unified candidate, which produced Hon. Repete as the winner.
In a jointly signed communiqué addressed to the APC National Chairman through the Oyo State Chairman, the forum noted that adopting a consensus candidate was necessary to ensure victory for the party and maintain stability within its ranks.

“We believe that Hon. Khalil Mustapha Repete is well-accepted by the masses and possesses the electoral value and added advantage to win the election, making him the ideal candidate to lead our party to victory,” the statement read.
The aspirants further appealed to the party leadership to formally recognize Hon. Repete as the consensus candidate, warning that such recognition would help avert legal disputes surrounding the conduct of the primaries.
The resolution was signed by the following six aspirants:
- Olusegun Olaleye
- Adekunle Oladeji
- Idris Lapade
- Saheed Aderounmu
- Oluyinka Omikunle
- Khalil Mustapha Repete
The forum reaffirmed their collective commitment to supporting Hon. Repete’s candidacy and pledged to work together for a successful outing at the polls, expressing confidence in APC’s chances of retaining the seat.
