In recognition of his unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions to the preservation and promotion of African culture and traditions, Mogaji Ejilola Sefiu Abiodun, a cultural advocate and founder of The Mogjournals, is set to be honoured with the African Culture and Tradition Ambassador Award.
The award ceremony will take place during the 2025 Isese Day Festival, themed “The Essence and Impact of Traditional Festival in Nigeria Society”. The event, organized by Heritage Connections Enterprises in collaboration with the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC) and other key cultural stakeholders, will be held at the Theatre Arts Auditorium, University of Ibadan, on Sunday, 24th August 2025, by 12:00 noon.
The festival is a yearly commemoration of Isese Day—the Universal Day for African Traditional Religion—celebrating the heroes and heroines of Isese Adulawo across generations. This year’s edition will feature keynote lectures, traditional musical performances, exhibitions, cultural investitures, and the presentation of ambassadorial honours to individuals who have significantly impacted African heritage advocacy.
According to the Convener and Coordinator, Ambassador Oluwo Olufemi Tade, Mogaji Ejilola is being honoured for his “practical demonstration of cultural values and continuous media efforts through The Mogjournals, aimed at preserving, documenting, and celebrating Yoruba and African traditional heritage.”
Mogaji Ejilola, who also serves as a lower chief in the Olubadan traditional hierarchy, is a prominent voice in Yoruba cultural preservation, known for his storytelling, heritage coverage, and advocacy work across Oyo State and beyond.

Speaking on the recognition, Mogaji Ejilola expressed deep appreciation, stating, “It is a profound honour to be recognized for my little efforts in safeguarding our heritage. This award is a motivation to do more in promoting the richness of our culture for generations to come.”
The 2025 Isese Day Festival promises to be a grand convergence of tradition, knowledge, and honour for custodians of African identity.
