Prominent Ibadan-born lawyer and Founder/Principal Partner of AOC Solicitors & Attorneys, Akinlolu Oyebamiji, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin Ige I, who recently joined his ancestors.
Describing the monarch’s demise as both shocking and spiritually symbolic, the well-known legal practitioner and humanitarian stated that Oba Olakunlehin’s transition serves as a solemn reminder of the transient nature of life, a message, he said, “that life is full of the now and then.”
In his message, Oyebamiji reflected on the brief but meaningful reign of the late monarch. “Just a few days after his 90th birthday celebrations, Kabiesi joined his ancestors and reigned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland remarkably shortly,” he said.

“Even though his time on the throne as Olubadan of Ibadanland was short, it was highly impactful to the peace, growth, and development of Ibadanland.”
Oyebamiji extended his heartfelt prayers to the royal family and the entire Ibadanland, asking God to grant the soul of the departed monarch eternal rest and to strengthen all those in mourning.
“I pray for Ibadan to continue to enjoy peace and witness greater development under the incoming 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland,” he added.
