A prominent traditional leader in Ibadan, Mogaji Ejilola Sefiu Abiodun, has called on the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde to extend infrastructural development to traditional compounds and inner communities across Ibadanland.
Speaking in Ibadan on Saturday with journalists during the grand finale of the 2025 Ibadan Week celebrations held at Liberty Stadium, Mogaji Ejilola noted that while significant progress has been made in modern areas such as Bodija, Mokola, and Ring Road, many indigenous neighborhoods — including Oje, Beere, and Oríta Mẹ́rin — still lack critical infrastructure, particularly access roads.
He revealed that although government officials have, on several occasions, visited these communities to measure and mark out roads in line with the Ibadan City Master Plan, the actual construction has yet to commence. He stressed that the provision of access roads to these local compounds would greatly enhance development and boost commercial activities among residents.

Mogaji Ejilola commended Governor Makinde for his impressive strides in urban development and prayed for his continued success. However, he appealed to the governor to also prioritize rural and traditional areas.
“If all these local compounds (Agboole) are provided with access roads according to the Ibadan City Master Plan, it will fast-track development and improve commerce within the communities. It would also reduce the pressure on rural lands meant for agricultural purposes, as residents would prefer to remain and invest in their ancestral homes,” he stated.
He emphasized that the lack of access roads has limited the ability of Mogajis and other community leaders to execute developmental projects, urging the government to address these challenges for the overall growth and inclusive development of Ibadanland.
