Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, former governor of Zamfara State and senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, has donated 145 trucks of maize and 42,000 bags of 10 kilogram Semovita to internally displaced persons and vulnerable households across the state.
The development was disclosed by the Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar Palliative Distribution Committee, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, shortly after a meeting of the committee in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
Liman explained that the intervention would cover all 14 local government areas of the state, with each council receiving 10 trucks of maize and 3,000 bags of Semovita for distribution to beneficiaries.
He said more than 210,000 people across the state’s 147 political wards had been selected to benefit from the initiative.
According to him, the intervention is part of Senator Yari’s longstanding commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, strengthening local agricultural production, and easing the burden on families facing economic hardship.
He added that the initiative is also intended to complement the food security agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by ensuring that more households have access to basic food items while encouraging sustained investment in agricultural production across the country.
Liman noted that the gesture would provide much needed relief to internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups, particularly during the current farming season, when many households are under increased financial pressure.
He further explained that Senator Yari has remained a consistent supporter of farmers and rural communities through interventions aimed at improving agricultural output, strengthening livelihoods, and enhancing food availability across Zamfara State.
He also called on residents of the state to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Yari as efforts continue to strengthen security, boost agricultural production, and improve living conditions across northern Nigeria.
The committee assured the public that the distribution process would be carried out in a transparent, fair, and timely manner to ensure that the food items reach the intended beneficiaries.
The intervention adds to Senator Yari’s record of supporting farmers, vulnerable households, and community based initiatives across Zamfara State while reinforcing ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to achieve sustainable food security and economic stability nationwide.
