The Oyo State Ministry of Environment has disclosed that three persons were arrested at Alesinloye, Ibadan, for obstructing the Environmental Task Force while on lawful duty during an enforcement operation.
Addressing journalists in Ibadan, Mrs. Areo, a Director in the Oyo State Ministry of Environment, explained that the suspects deliberately interfered with the activities of the Task Force, led by Environmental Health Officers, as they carried out their statutory responsibility of enforcing environmental laws in the area. She noted that such actions constitute a serious offence under the extant environmental regulations of the state.

Mrs. Areo further stated that the arrested individuals were subsequently arraigned before a competent court, where Justice Agbefarin ordered that they be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre, pending the determination of their case.The Oyo State Ministry of Environment warns members of the public against obstructing government officials in the discharge of their lawful duties, stressing that such acts undermine the state’s efforts to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment.

The Ministry also calls on residents, traders, and business operators to cooperate fully with enforcement officers at all times, emphasizing that environmental protection is a collective responsibility.
