Barr. Akeem Adedeji Agbaje, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 2027 gubernatorial hopeful in Oyo State, has extended warm felicitations to teachers across Oyo State and Nigeria on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2025, describing them as the bedrock of national growth and human capital development.

In a statement, Barr. Agbaje paid glowing tribute to the tireless efforts of teachers who, despite challenges, continue to shape the minds and destinies of the nation’s future leaders. He emphasized that no society can progress beyond the quality of its teachers and the education they impart.

“Teachers are the true nation builders. They nurture dreams, ignite curiosity, and equip generations with knowledge and values that sustain our development. Their patience, sacrifice, and dedication remain the silent pillars upon which our future stands.”

He noted that improving teachers’ welfare is not only a matter of fairness but a critical investment in national development. According to him, when teachers are adequately motivated, the quality of education, student performance, and societal progress naturally improve.

“Our teachers deserve more than just words of appreciation, they deserve policies that guarantee decent wages, professional development, and modern teaching facilities. No nation that neglects its teachers can truly claim to value its future.”

While acknowledging ongoing reforms at the national and state levels, the APC chieftain called for sustained efforts toward implementing robust teacher-support systems, especially in rural and underserved areas. He also highlighted the need for continuous retraining and digital literacy programs to help teachers adapt to evolving global educational standards.

Barr. Agbaje reaffirmed his personal and political commitment to education reform, stating that his vision for Oyo State places teachers at the heart of policy design and implementation. He expressed optimism that a society that honours its teachers is a society prepared for sustainable growth, innovation, and social stability.

“As we celebrate this year’s Teachers’ Day, I salute every teacher for their courage, compassion, and unrelenting pursuit of excellence. May your labour of love never be in vain.”
