Senator AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari PhD has received the newly inaugurated executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Oyo State Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Akeem Abbas, during a courtesy visit.
Welcoming the delegation, Senator Buhari described the media as a critical pillar of democracy and a powerful force in shaping public opinion, strengthening institutions and promoting accountable governance. He charged the new NUJ leadership to uphold the highest ethical standards of journalism while fostering unity and professionalism within the union.
The Oyo North Lawmaker emphasized the responsibility of journalists to promote peace, report truthfully and hold all tiers of government accountable in the public interest. He noted that a responsible and independent media remains essential to democratic growth and social stability.

Senator Buhari expressed confidence in the capacity of the new executives to lead the union to greater heights and assured them of his continued support and counsel as they begin their tenure. He concluded by wishing the new NUJ Oyo State executives a successful and impactful tenure in service to the profession and the state.
