Ibadan, Nigeria – Mogaji Ejilola Sefiu Abiodun, the head of Ejilude Alakoko compound and Public Relations Officer of the Ibadan Distinguished Royal Club (IDRC), has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly crowned Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Mogjournals during the Obalufon Festival at Jegede Compound, Ibadan, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, Mogaji Ejilola used the moment to call for unity among Yoruba traditional rulers and to caution online bloggers against creating divisions between royal institutions.
“Those stirring rivalry between the Alaafin and the Oonirisha are bloggers chasing clout and survival by creating unnecessary chaos. If they truly understood history, they would know that division cost the Hausa people their heritage when the Fulani Jihadists overtook their land and leadership,” he stated.

Mogaji Ejilola emphasized that instead of fueling conflict, bloggers and commentators should promote unity, development, and the preservation of Yoruba culture.

“Disunity among the Yoruba was a major factor that led to the loss of Ilorin to the Fulani. According to historical accounts, the Fulani made further attempts to conquer the entire Yorubaland. However, their expansion was halted by the brave intervention of the Ibadan warriors, led by the formidable Balogun Oderinlo during the reign of Iba Oluyole.”
He applauded the Ooni of Ife for his consistent focus on growth and peace in Yorubaland and encouraged the new Alaafin to follow in his footsteps.
“I pray for the new Alaafin and all traditional rulers who believe in the strength of our culture and our unique Yoruba identity,” he concluded.
The message underscores growing concerns over misinformation and divisive rhetoric targeting royal institutions and calls for a renewed focus on cultural solidarity and progress.
