ONDO: NCC Commissions e-Health Project at State Specialist Hospital

Akure, Ondo State — In a landmark move towards digital transformation in Nigeria’s healthcare sector, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commissioned an e-Health Project at the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, Ondo State.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, described the project as a significant stride in integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into healthcare delivery across the country.

Dr. Maida noted that the completion of the e-Health Project underscores the Commission’s unwavering commitment to innovation and the development of Nigeria’s digital economy. “ICT is a powerful tool that can integrate the health sector into the digital economy and ensure universal access to quality medical services, regardless of geographical barriers,” he said.

He explained that the initiative was designed to enhance the quality of medical care through the deployment of advanced ICT solutions. The e-Health platform is expected to streamline medical processes, improve patient record management, and ensure timely diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care.

“With this facility now equipped with modern technological infrastructure, we are confident that healthcare professionals will be better positioned to provide accurate and efficient care to patients. The project also sets a precedent for similar initiatives in healthcare institutions nationwide,” the EVC added.

Dr. Maida emphasised that the project’s success was made possible through strategic partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders, including technology experts and government institutions. He stated that such alliances remain vital to scaling the project to other regions.
