Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and House of Representatives aspirant for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Akinola Kazeem Akinjide (Rtd), has joined the people of Ibadanland and Nigeria at large in mourning the death of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin Ige I.
In his condolence message, as made available by his Media Aide, Akintunde Yusuf, Akinola described the monarch’s passing as a painful and deeply emotional loss that has left a void in the hearts of many.
“Kabiyesi’s transition is a saddening development, especially coming just days after his 90th birthday celebration—an event that marked a remarkable milestone and gave us all a chance to honour his enduring contributions to Ibadanland.”

He noted that while Oba Olakunlehin’s reign was relatively brief, it was impactful, dignified, and filled with wisdom and grace.

“May the Almighty grant Kabiyesi eternal rest, and may his legacy continue to guide Ibadanland toward greater peace, unity, and prosperity.”
