Things did not go as planned on Saturday in Ibadan for the former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Oyo State, Hon. Ayobami Ojo, and his ally, Mr. Tunde Adeduntan.

The duo allegedly mobilised political touts to the premises of a popular radio station in Ibadan, claiming to act on behalf of Otunba Seye Famojuro, a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, to attack the Chairman of ATISBO Local Government, Hon. Bashir Olumuyiwa Alade.

Upon getting wind of the plot, Otunba Famojuro reportedly drove to the venue to ascertain what was happening.

Addressing those present, Famojuro denied any involvement in the alleged plot, insisting he never hired touts to attack the council chairman.

He said he had never met the persons who attempted to use his name to carry out the act, adding that he does not know the ATISBO chairman personally and has no dealings with him.

In his words: “I want to use this medium to admonish people to be law abiding. For me as a person, I can’t send political touts to attack members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, despite being the opposition, talk less of attacking members of APM or even a council chairman for that matter.

“Let me also urge our people to ensure and play decent politics among ourselves because election will come and go.”

Famojuro thereafter invited the chairman, Adeduntan and others for a peace meeting to resolve the matter amicably.

However, the meeting reportedly ended in deadlock, as Adeduntan was said to have displayed a disrespectful and insolent attitude, refusing to allow the issue to be settled peacefully.

He was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.

The latest incident comes after a similar alleged attempt to attack the chairman in Ago-Are by touts said to be loyal to the former commissioner.

It was gathered that political touts loyal to the former commissioner had disrupted the APM Ward 7 and 8 meeting in Ago-Are during an interactive session hosted for the House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Niyi Adebisi.

The perpetrators of that attack are said to still be at large.

Reacting, the ATISBO chairman said under his leadership, lawlessness would not be tolerated in the council.

He urged those with grievances to embrace dialogue and peaceful reconciliation instead of violence.

Alade thanked party leaders and stakeholders in ATISBO for their support since the commencement of his administration.

He noted that the level of development witnessed in ATISBO under the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration is unprecedented, and thanked the governor for prioritising the people of ATISBO and Oke-Ogun generally.
