The League Management Company (LMC) has slammed heavy sanctions on Kano Pillars Football Club following the violent invasion of the Sani Abacha International Stadium by the club’s supporters after the visiting team, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), equalised in stoppage time during their NPFL Week 8 encounter.

According to the LMC’s disciplinary decision, Kano Pillars will suffer a three-point deduction, an indefinite closure of their home stadium, and fines totalling ₦9.5 million (nine million, five hundred thousand naira) for misconduct, crowd trouble, and other related offences.
The invasion occurred shortly after 3SC drew level late in the game, leading to chaos and the abrupt end of the match. Videos circulating online showed fans breaching the pitch and attacking match officials and opposing players.
Many football lovers and followers have welcomed the sanctions, describing them as a step in the right direction and a strong warning to other NPFL clubs. They emphasised that such disciplinary measures are necessary to safeguard the integrity of the league and uphold the true spirit of professionalism in Nigerian football.
