The National Orientation Agency ( NOA) has extended its campaigns for Citizens leaders’ engagement to the threshold of the grassroots.

Speaking in a programme tagged “Citizens conversation with Elected public officials in Oyo state” early this morning at the Local government Secretariat of Ibadan North, Mrs Adeola Adelaja, Director, Political and civic education, ethics and value, who represented the NOA Director General, Mallam Lanre Isaa-Onilu at the programme emphasised, the need for positive engagements of the leaders through the citizens, while calling on the elected leaders to also live up to their billings.

The DG further stressed that “We must,all ensure that we hold our elected leaders to their campaign promises, ensuring that they address the genuine needs and aspirations of the people.

“On the other hand, he also urged the citizens to monitor the programme of the elected leaders and support them to succeed for the public good.

The DG also used the occasion to expatiate federal governments under the President Tinubu administration such as; Student loans schemes, Nigeria youth investments funds, redirecting funds from Subsidies for critical investment, CNG initiatives, Siemens power project, Conditional Cash Transfers, Support for Nano Businesses amongst others.

The DG urge the people in the South to access the Students loans and other programs in the Renewed hope Agenda like their Northern states Counterparts so that “every citizens can enjoy improved economic opportunities, robust public services and a higher quality life.

The DG didn’t fail to laud Governor Seyi Makinde for carrying out programmes that address the needs of the communities in Oyo particularly the Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAFER) which has engendered; welfare support, economic and business support, transport initiatives, agric empowerment, Youth, meaningful reforms and elevate public welfare.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Oluwatobi, Oluwaseun Onifade , aka Onala, maintained that being the closest tier of government to the people, the local government is very key in carrying out interventions, policies and initiatives that are impactful.

The Chairman used the occasion to reel out some of the intervention projects which the local government has carried out in line with the directives of Governor Oluseyi Makinde who he said his ” passionate about development in all the nooks and crannies of the State”

He catalogued his achievements in the areas of health delivery and security, which includes the Commissioning of a building for NSCDC, agriculture, grading and fixing roads, installation of Wi-Fi , and other developmental projects.

The programme which attracted key personalities from different sectors like Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, Oyo State NOA Director among the dignitaries ended with Theatre for Development by the pupils of IMG basic school 1.
