The lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun, popularly known as Agboworin, has distributed operational equipment worth millions of naira to security agencies operating within his constituency.
The beneficiaries of the gesture include the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Operation Burst and other security outfits.
Speaking during the public presentation of the equipment, Agboworin said his years of service as a military officer in the United States had given him firsthand insight into the challenges faced by security operatives in Nigeria.
“My tour of some security offices recently revealed that some basic tools are lacking, and there’s a need to step in to address the situation,” he said. “This support is aimed at boosting the morale and efficiency of our security personnel in my constituency and across Oyo State.”
Agboworin noted that his initiative aligns with the security template of Governor Seyi Makinde, which, according to him, has contributed significantly to maintaining peace and stability in Oyo State.
He further promised to hold quarterly meetings with heads of the security agencies in his constituency to obtain feedback and strengthen collaboration in tackling security challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary agencies, a representative of the Oyo State Commissioner of Police commended Hon. Agboworin for his proactive intervention, noting that the operational equipment would go a long way in enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of the security personnel within and beyond the constituency.
Some of the operational equipments distributed are Fridges, generators, water dispensers, HP LaserJet Printers, Bundles of A4 Papers and other necessary stationaries.
