The second edition of the Jimoh Adisa Olabisi (JAO) 2.0 Essay and Writing Competition has been held in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, with outstanding students rewarded for their academic performances, creativity and writing skills.
The event brought together students, teachers, parents, community leaders, political leaders and other stakeholders to celebrate academic excellence and encourage intellectual development among young people in the local government.
The competition provided students from various secondary schools with an opportunity to demonstrate their writing skills, creativity, critical thinking and knowledge, while promoting education as a tool for personal development and community transformation.

At the event, outstanding participants were recognised and rewarded for their performances. The first runner-up received a HiPad tablet and a cash token of ₦100,000, while the second- and third-place winners also received cash tokens.

In a gesture aimed at appreciating all participants, every student who took part in the competition also received a cash token, ensuring that their efforts and participation were recognised.
In addition, primary and secondary schools across the local government received chalks and exercise books to support teaching and learning activities.
Another major highlight of the event was the presentation of a fully funded Master of Science (MSc) scholarship at the University of Ibadan to Mr. Fatai Jamiu Akande, who was recognised as the overall best 2025 Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) applicant.
Speaking on the scholarship, Akande expressed his appreciation to the organisers and everyone who contributed to making the programme a success.

The initiator of the programme, Hon. Jimoh Adisa Olabisi.(JAO), commended the panel, led by Mr. Olabode E.A., as well as Mr. Balogun Johnson, for their roles in the assessment process and the success of the competition.
JAO also appreciate leaders and members of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) who attended the event, particularly the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Jacob Ogundiran; the APM Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Moses Alao; and the APM candidate for Saki West State Constituency, Hon. Kabir Salaudeen, for their support and presence.
He further appreciated teachers, students and community leaders for their participation and contributions to the success of the initiative.
The second edition of the competition went beyond an academic contest, as it combined the recognition of young talents with support for schools and the celebration of outstanding academic achievement.
The organisers said the initiative was designed to encourage young people to develop their potential while promoting greater community participation in education and creating opportunities for academic advancement.
The successful conclusion of the second edition is expected to provide a foundation for subsequent editions of the Jimoh Adisa Olabisi (JAO) Essay and Writing Competition, with continued emphasis on education, academic excellence and youth development in Oorelope Local Government.
