Different Contexts, Common Aspirations — Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and founder of AKA Foundation, Akinola Kazeem, has joined global voices in celebrating Nigerian youths as the world marks International Youth Day (IYD) 2026.
Akinola, a retired Captain, community developer and youth advocate, said youths globally are facing different contexts and realities peculiar to their immediate societies and nations in their pursuit of a better life and fulfillment of their aspirations.
He, however, noted that these sharp and obvious differences could be explored and converted into opportunities to achieve common goals and aspirations to the advantage of the country.
According to him, “The population of Nigerian youths is more than what the government and relevant stakeholders can easily agree to look away from. They have become the strength of the nation.”
“They are spreading across the length and breadth of the globe, making positive waves but with different yet similar realities as stated above. It is then incumbent on the government and other stakeholders to positively make use of their strength and agility for the nation’s prosperity.”
Akinola also aligned himself with the United Nations theme for International Youth Day 2026, noting that young people globally are seeking dignity, opportunity, meaningful participation, decent work, quality education and a sustainable future they can be proud of.
He further commended the initiatives of the present government, noting that it has been investing in Nigerian youths through different opportunities and initiatives aimed at supporting them in actualising their dreams for the good of the nation.
