A leading aspirant for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye election, Dr. Olamide Junaid, has firmly debunked reports circulating on social media suggesting she has withdrawn from the race.
In a statement released by her campaign team, the OJC Media Group, Dr. Junaid described the rumours as baseless, malicious, and the handiwork of political opponents threatened by her growing popularity and chances at the polls.
“Once again, our attention has been drawn to unfounded rumours making rounds to the effect that Dr. Olamide Junaid has withdrawn from the ongoing race to occupy the vacant seat of Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly,” the statement read.
“This misinformation is the handiwork of our opponents who are jittery of defeat in the forthcoming contest. We wish to state here, and unequivocally too, that Dr. Olamide Junaid is still very much in the race and remains a top contender.”
The statement called on her supporters, party members, and the general public to disregard the fake news and remain steadfast in their support.
Dr. Junaid, who has continued to engage constituents with her message of responsible representation and people-oriented leadership, reiterated her unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of the people of Ibadan North if given the mandate.
The campaign team also assured that the aspirant remains focused and undeterred, and will continue to pursue her vision of transformational leadership for the constituency.
The by-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat was necessitated by the demise of the former occupant, Hon. Prince Olaide Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban.
