In a bid to advance Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and digital skills development, Senator AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari, PhD, in collaboration with Hon. Najeemdeen Ewesesan, PhD, has partnered with the Kabiru Adekunle Foundation to train Ibadan indigenes in various ICT-related skills.
The training program covered areas such as CCTV installation, solar panel and inverter installation, digital marketing, computer engineering, network engineering, Artificial Intelligence (AI) among others.
The months-long training exercise culminated in a graduation ceremony held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Hall, Molete, Ibadan, with several dignitaries in attendance to witness the successful completion of the program.
According to beneficiaries, the training has been impactful and life-changing, as many of them are already applying the skills and knowledge acquired to earn a living and sustain themselves.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Abideen Olaoya, Mogaji of Oroye Compound, Oke-Oluoku, congratulated the graduates and commended the organizers. He emphasized the importance of ICT in today’s world and urged the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunities the training presents.
Corroborating Prof. Olaoya, the founder of the Kabiru Adekunle Foundation, Engr. Kabir Adekunle, expressed appreciation to Senator AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari and Hon. Najeemdeen Ewesesan for their partnership, which he said contributed significantly to the success of the program. He explained that the initiative was designed to empower hundreds of people with ICT and digital skills to thrive in the digital age.

Also speaking, Hon. Jubril, one of the program partners, announced the distribution of free MiFi devices to participants to enhance their internet connectivity as they deploy the skills acquired from the training.
In his brief remarks, Senator AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari, PhD, thanked the participants for believing in his capacity to deliver impactful programmes in partnership with the Kabiru Adekunle Foundation.
He noted that technology represents the future of the present generation and stressed the need for adequate preparation. “In Oyo North, which I represent, I have facilitated more than 56 ICT and CBT centres in various schools and locations for the benefit of our young boys and girls. Examinations are increasingly transitioning to computer-based tests (CBT), and we must be adequately prepared,” he said.
Buhari added that the ICT and digital skills training align with his broader technology-driven interventions for the people of Ibadan, assuring that more initiatives are underway for the overall development of Oyo State.
