Oyo NOA Mourns as Ibadan Carnival Turns Tragic

Following the tragic incident that claimed the lives of many children and left numerous others injured in Ibadan, the state capital of Oyo, the Akinjide Kazeem Akinola Foundation (AKA Foundation) has joined numerous Nigerians in condoling with the families of the victims.

In a statement issued by the foundation, the unfortunate incident was described as one neither planned for nor envisaged by the organizers.

“We mourn the passing of over 30 lives lost during the unexpected stampede at the Ibadan Children’s Funfair program. It is heartbreaking to note that a funfair gathering designed to bring smiles to the faces of young children has ended up bringing tears to the eyes of Nigerians,” the statement read.

“Although the organizers reportedly failed to implement adequate crowd management and control mechanisms for such a large-scale event, it is deeply unfortunate that such a tragic loss of lives occurred.”

“At AKA Foundation, our hearts bleed. We pray that such incidents will never occur in our society again. Our children deserve to grow old and contribute positively to their communities and the world at large. Once again, we sympathize with the families who lost their loved ones and wish the injured a speedy recovery as they continue to receive medical attention,” the foundation noted.
