
IBADAN STAMPEDE — The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has denied the bail applications filed by the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, and the Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Abdullahi Fasasi. Oriyomi Hamzat, the proprietor of Agidigbo FM bail application is still pending decision.
The trio was arrested following an Ibadan stampede that occurred at a funfair organized to bring joy to people. Over 30 people lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, mostly children.


Days after their arrest, the Oyo State High Court ruled that the trio should be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre pending investigation and advice from the State Prosecutor on the matter.
In a subsequent development, another bail application was filed by the remanded individuals, but the Oyo State High Court did not grant the application.
