Ibadan, Nigeria – In a historic revelation that reconnects the present with the past, Mogaji Adegboyega Kabir Oderinlo, esteemed head of the Oderinlo descendants, has confirmed that Ejilude Alakoko, the great-grandfather of Mogaji Ejilola Sefiu, was among the top warriors who fought alongside the legendary Balogun Oderinlo in the 19th century.
During an exclusive interview with Mogjournals, Mogaji Oderinlo detailed the extraordinary legacy of these fearless warriors, emphasizing that out of 105 warriors who stood beside Oderinlo in battle, Ejilude Alakoko ranked number 8.
This revelation cements Ejilude’s place among the elite fighters who defended Yoruba sovereignty, particularly in the Battle of Jalumi (1840)—one of the most decisive conflicts against invading forces.
Speaking on the significance of this heritage, Mogaji Ejilola Sefiu commended Mogaji Oderinlo for his leadership and unwavering commitment to the Oderinlo dynasty.
He acknowledged that overseeing the affairs of the Oderinlo lineage—a warrior heritage spanning across Yoruba lands, including Ilorin—is no small task.
“The Oderinlo Dynasty is more than a lineage; it is a nation that has established its presence across Western Nigeria. It represents an unyielding spirit of bravery and resilience,” Mogaji Ejilola stated.
In his final remarks, Mogaji Ejilola offered prayers for Mogaji Oderinlo’s long life, sound health, and uncommon grace—a divine favor that would one day see him ascend the stool of his forefathers.
