The High Court of Justice sitting in Ede has issued an interim order restraining the Osun State government and other parties involved from encroaching on the Ifelope Community Development Area, located behind Muslim Grammar School, Ede.
The community filed a lawsuit against the Osun State government and the Agunyanmasesu family, alleging the encroachment of their lands and properties to favor the Muslim Grammar School. The community, which is situated directly behind the school, argues that the ongoing developments by the state government threaten their rights.
Findings revealed that the state government is currently renovating the school and constructing a perimeter fence. However, the proposed fencing is designed in a way that would enclose the Ifelope Community within the school premises.
The community, which has existed for over 30 years, claims to possess proper documentation for their land, acquired legally through vendors and relevant government agencies. Over the decades, there have been no disputes or allegations of encroachment involving either the school or the community.

According to the Ifelope community leader, “It is surprising to see the contractor attempting to fence us into the school. When we challenged this action, we learned that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State ordered the fencing to make us tenants within the school premises.”
“We’ve made every effort to stop this arbitrary act, but none have been successful, which is why we decided to take the matter to court,” he added.
On Monday, the High Court in Ede granted an interim order restraining the Osun State government and the contractor from continuing with the fencing project, pending a proper hearing and final determination of the case.
