Not intending to go this route, but it is worth celebrating a man who has been deservedly appreciated for his patriotic and humanitarian service — a man whose selfless contributions have made life easier for many within and beyond his federal constituency.

The Ona-Ara-born politician and retired Captain, Akinjide Kazeem Akinola, has once again distinguished himself among the “Big Boys Making Waves in Ibadan,” as recognised by CityPeople Magazine. Interestingly, like several others featured on the list, including Mr. Wale Oladiti (Weeldrop), Alh. Taiwo Adebisi Akande (Taye Currency), Mogaji Abduljeleel Adanla, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, Dr. Adetunbi Saheed Ige, Hon. Saheed Fijabi, and Com. Ademola Babalola, Akinola currently holds no public office. Yet, his presence and impact across Oyo State are undeniable.

CityPeople’s recognition of Akinola validates a truth already evident to many: he needs little or no introduction in Oyo State. His works speak continue to speak for him.

A major highlight of his humanitarian intervention is the ₦12.5 million Back-to-School Initiative, which provided support to 250 parents at the start of the current academic term in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency. Beyond that, Akinola has championed numerous community projects, from drilling boreholes and installing solar streetlights in various areas to sponsoring over 700 UTME forms, granting ₦150,000 cash relief to each ward of his federal constituency, and funding business grants and youth empowerment initiatives — all from his personal resources.

These consistent efforts, especially after his 2023 election bid, reflect not just resilience but a genuine commitment to community service and development. His recognition is therefore well-deserved and further strengthens his political visibility and acceptability as the 2027 electioneering process approaches.

Undoubtedly, Akinjide Kazeem Akinola deserves every accolade that comes his way. He remains approachable, accessible, and people-oriented — a leader who opens his doors to all, irrespective of political leanings or personal interests.

For him, it has always been life before politics — and humanity above all.
