Early Monday morning, residents of disconnected communities from Olodo to Iyana Offa in Oyo State took to the streets to protest against the continuous disconnection by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
Speaking with some of the protesters and reading the descriptions on their banners and placards, it appears that these communities have been disconnected by IBEDC for close to ten years with no hope of reconnection.
The IBEDC has since closed their offices to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
