A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and House of Representatives aspirant for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Akinola Kazeem, has urged Nigerians to embrace a renewed national mindset as Muslims commence the holy month of Ramadan and Christians begin the Lenten season.
In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, Akinola congratulated Muslim faithful on the commencement of Ramadan and extended goodwill to Christians observing Lent, describing the simultaneous spiritual seasons as divine opportunity for reflection, moral rebirth and collective commitment to nation’s development.
He noted that both sacred periods emphasize discipline, sacrifice, self-purification and compassion, stressing that the values embedded in the two faiths can inspire a positive change in attitude necessary for Nigeria’s growth.

According to him, “the country’s development challenges require not only government policies but also a transformation in citizens’ orientation towards honesty, productivity and mutual respect.”
“Nigeria’s progress is tied to our mindset as a people. Ramadan and Lent teach us self-control, accountability and love for one another. If we explore these virtues in our daily engagements, our nation will witness meaningful development,” he said.
Akinola further urged Nigerians to shun corruption, religious intolerance and divisive tendencies, adding that unity and patriotism remain essential ingredients for economic recovery and social stability.
He also called on political and community leaders and the youth to use the sacred season to promote peace and constructive engagement, noting that national development thrives in an atmosphere of cooperation and understanding.
The APC stalwart also encouraged citizens to support the less privileged through charity and humanitarian gestures, saying caring for the less privileged reflects the true essence of both Ramadan and Lent.
Akinola concluded by wishing Muslims a rewarding Ramadan fast and Christians a spiritually fulfilling Lenten observance, expressing hope that the season would usher in renewed thinking, responsible citizenship and sustainable development across the country.
