A New Dawn for Ona-Ara: Akinbode Busayo Declares Assembly Ambition

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Akinbode Samuel Busayo, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Oyo State House of Assembly seat representing Ona Ara Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

Busayo made the declaration during a gathering of party leaders, members, and stakeholders in Ona Ara, where he expressed gratitude for the support he has received and reaffirmed his commitment to service.

Addressing the leaders and members, Busayo said his decision to join the race was driven by a desire to serve the people and provide purposeful representation across all communities in the constituency.

“This decision is not driven by personal ambition alone, but by a deep commitment to serve, to uplift our people, and to be a true voice for every ward, every community, and every individual in Ona Ara,” he said.

He appreciated party leaders and members for their encouragement and confidence in his aspiration, noting that their support has strengthened his resolve to pursue the mandate.

“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support, encouragement, and belief shown to me by the good people of Ona Ara. Your trust strengthens my resolve, and I do not take it for granted,” Busayo added.

The aspirant also pledged to prioritize inclusive governance, transparency, and accountability if elected, assuring constituents of responsive and people-oriented representation.

“By the grace of God and with your mandate come 2027, I pledge to lead with inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability. Together, we will build a representation that listens, that delivers, and that truly reflects the aspirations of our people,” he said.

In his remarks, the APC Chairman in Ona Ara Local Government, Prince Kolawole Ogundipe, called on party members to remain united and committed to the collective goal of winning the 2027 elections.

Ogundipe emphasized the importance of strengthening internal cohesion within the party, noting that unity remains critical to electoral success.

Similarly, a former Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Ogundele, popularly known as BAO, urged party members to set aside differences and work together in the interest of the party.

He reiterated the need for reconciliation among members and called for a renewed focus on securing victory for the APC across all elective positions in the forthcoming elections.

The declaration event is seen as part of early political alignments within the APC in Ona Ara, as aspirants begin consultations and mobilization ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
