Oyo State College of Education Lanlate, JAC Bemoans Salary Shortfall, Appeals Gov Makinde for Increase in Subvention
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the 3 trade unions in the Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate has bemoaned the problem of salary deficit experienced by the institutions despite the financial support from Engr Seyi Makinde, while also appealing the governor for increase in monthly subvention to address financial shortfall.
In a statement signed by Dr. Fadara, O.O, the Chairman of College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU); Dr Fatai, A.A, the Local JAC Secretary; Tijani, O.S, the Chairman, Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education (SSUCOEN) and Yusuf, L.B, the Chairman of NASU, the Joint Action Committee of the Institution unions expressed their profound appreciation to the governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for the constant salary payment and the special consideration given to the Oyo State College of Education (OYSCOED), Lanlate to augment salary for the Months of May, June and July 2025.
The management further explained that despite the salary augmentation in September, the amount released still recorded a shortfall of over N11million. This situation, according to the management, will have a major negative effect on salary payment for October due to the expected implementation of the 2025 promotion exercise.

“The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the 3 trade unions in Oyo StateCollege of Education, Lanlate, wishes to express our profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde for the constant financial support given to Tertiary Institutions in the state towards alleviating the problem of salary shortfall being experienced in the Institutions.
“Worthy of note, is the special consideration given to OYSCOED, Lanlate, to augment salary payments for the Months of May, June and July 2025 before the Committee saddled with the responsibility of bringing up acceptable sharing formula for the allocation set aside to address the problem of salary shortfall submitted its reports to the government.
“This commendable and highly considerate move is a significant one that bailed our acutely financially challenged Institution out of possible amputated salary payments in the aforementioned months.
“However, while we celebrate this critical intervention, we must also draw His Excellency’s attention to a pressing concern threatening full salary payment in Lanlate. The amount released for salary augmentation in September still recorded a shortfall of over N11million. This situation will have a major negative effect on salary payment this month because of the expected implementation of 2025 promotion exercise.
“In the light of this, we passionately appeal to our amiable and worker-friendly Governor to urgently look into our plight and increase our monthly subvention to address this shortfall.
“We remain committed to supporting His Excellency’s vision for a stable academic calendar and competitive Tertiary Education system in Oyo State.
