The first time I came across the name Babaluabi, I imagined an elder statesman with grey hairs, walking stick in hand, serving as a rallying point for his community. But upon searching then, before the 2023 election, what I found was even more inspiring, he is a two-term Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. At that time, he was in the thick of a tough re-election battle for the Senate. Against all odds, and in affirmation of his good works with the people, he emerged the winner of the election. That victory, to many who are aware of the tense and intense politics of the Oyo North Senatorial District, was more than just political. It was proof that Senator AbdulFatai Buhari had truly earned the revered title of Babaluabi of Oyo North Senatorial District, and indeed Oyo State.
Since his re-election for the third time, he has wasted no time in translating the unimaginable support he gets from his people into tangible dividends of democracy.
