Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have called on President Bola Tinubu to convene a unity meeting with all governorship aspirants from the state, urging him to clearly indicate his preferred candidate amongst them ahead of the party’s 2027 primary and general elections.
The appeal was made during a high-level meeting held at the residence of the former First Lady of Oyo State and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Florence Ajimobi. The meeting, which lasted several hours, reportedly brought together major gubernatorial aspirants and key stakeholders of the party to strategize for the 2027 general elections.
At the gathering, Florence Ajimobi emphasized that the objective of the meeting was to foster unity within the APC and position the party to reclaim power in Oyo State in 2027. The stakeholders also resolved to remain loyal and committed to any candidate endorsed by President Tinubu.
Notable figures in attendance included the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Teslim Folarin; former Deputy Governor, Aderemi Olaniyan; Senators AbdulFatai Buhari and Sharafadeen Alli; former Nigerian Bar Association (Ibadan branch) chairman, Akeem Agbaje; and House of Representatives member, Remi Oseni.
Others present were the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; APC chieftain, Fatai Ibikunle; State APC Chairman, Moses Alake Adeyemo; and party stalwart, Idris Adeoye.
Also in attendance were Oyo South senatorial aspirant, Kolapo Kola-Daisi; former lawmaker, Seyi Adisa; former Deputy National Youth Leader of the APC, Afeez Bolaji Repete; Idris Ajimobi; and media aide to the Minister of Power, Bolaji Tunji.
